Keyboard Cat ($KEYCAT) Thesis

In 1984, Charlie Schmidt put a blue shirt on his cat Fatso and filmed her "playing" a keyboard.

He posted the clip on YouTube in 2007, and "play him off, Keyboard Cat" became how the internet ended every fail, blooper and awkward moment. It still works. YouTube remixed it for a 2023 Super Bowl ad, almost 40 years after Fatso first sat at the keys.

$KEYCAT started as a fan coin on Base in March 2024. Instead of fighting it, Charlie's meme manager Ben Lashes signed licensing deals with the Keyboard Cat coins, and Charlie opened his vault of videos and images for anyone to meme with. The Base community announced it in August 2024.

A Solana version got a license too, but the Base coin is the one Coinbase added in 2025, giving one of the oldest memes online a real exchange listing and its creator's blessing.

Most memecoins borrow a meme and hope nobody notices. $KEYCAT got the keys from the man who filmed the cat.

Keyboard Cat has been playing the internet off stage for decades. So when you buy $KEYCAT, you're betting the song isn't over yet.
