Turbo ($TURBO) Thesis
In April 2023, a Melbourne artist gave GPT-4 $69 and promised to do whatever it told him.
Rhett Mankind called it performance art. His first prompt named the bot "MemeCoinGPT" and gave it one goal: a top 300 ranking on CoinGecko. It laid out the plan, his followers voted for "TurboToadToken" over names like HypeHoundCoin, and a Midjourney prompt it wrote produced the orange toad in a space helmet.
Mankind couldn't code, so GPT-4 wrote the contract while his followers checked it for errors. The first launch died when a bot bought almost the whole supply. He asked the AI how to fundraise, crowdfunded the relaunch, renamed it Turbo and shipped it with 50 holders and 3.5 ETH, posting every step live.
That public log is why the joke lasted. Binance listed $TURBO in September 2024 as "a memecoin made by AI for the people," and the toad is still trading three and a half years later, while this week's charts fill up with fresh coins named after AI labs.
Most AI coins borrow a name. $TURBO kept the chat log.
