Popcat ($POPCAT) Thesis
In October 2020 a guy named Xavier shared two photos of his cat Oatmeal chirping at a bug, one of them edited so the mouth became a big round O. A friend posted it to Reddit, it went viral on Twitter, and within weeks Pop Cat was lip syncing to every song on Instagram.
Then a few Sheffield students turned it into popcat.click, where every tap makes Oatmeal pop and scores a point for your country. That simple idea started real national rivalries. In August 2021 Thailand and Taiwan traded first place at tens of billions of clicks, and Thai users still bring up that win in 2026 as proof of what they can do online.
$POPCAT launched on Solana in December 2023. Within days the original dev threatened to wipe the token's metadata unless holders funded his NFT mint, so jpeggler paid 35,000 USDC to take the rights and lock it. Holders carried it from there to about $2B in November 2024. The coin isn't run by Oatmeal's owner or the popcat.click team.
People have spent years clicking this cat for nothing but bragging rights. $POPCAT is the version where the bragging finally has a price.
