The Thesis
$BUTTCOIN is Bitcoin, but with butts, one of crypto's oldest jokes, now trading as a coin and backed by the account that has been telling it since 2011.
@ButtCoin went live in May 2011, when Bitcoin was barely two years old. Its bio still reads "Buttcoin is a peer-to-peer butt."
That line made Bitcoin history in September 2014. Someone hijacked Satoshi's email, took over his SourceForge account and rewrote Bitcoin's project page into the Buttcoin pitch. Gavin Andresen filed the ticket and SourceForge rolled it back within hours.
In January the account picked this mint and called it "the only token that has ever gotten and WILL ever get my approval."
What you're holding:
Credit for inventing the joke is self-asserted, since the gag also grew out of early forums. Impostor Buttcoins exist, so check the mint before you buy.
Even Bitcoin's own SourceForge page once spoke Buttcoin. You won't find lore older or dumber than that.
