Moo Deng ($MOODENG) Thesis

Moo Deng is a baby pygmy hippo at Khao Kheow Open Zoo in Thailand. In 2024, her keepers posted clips of her biting, splashing and throwing tantrums, and the internet fell in love with it. She acted out exactly how most of us feel on a bad day, and that made her instantly relatable.

What makes her different from most viral animals is that the attention never faded. Fans kept travelling to the zoo just to see her, and that pushed its yearly revenue from 180 million to 319 million baht by the time she turned two. The Thai government is now building a 75 million baht Hippo Village for her and her family. Even Thai news still treats her like a celebrity, from the day she picked Trump to win the 2024 election to her World Cup predictions this year.

Crypto embraced her just as fast. $MOODENG launched on Solana in September 2024 and pumped to around $614 million after Binance listed it for futures, which made it one of the first animal coins outside dogs and cats to trade like a major. Vitalik also became her adoptive father through a donation to the zoo. That was a gift to the zoo, not an endorsement of the coin, but it shows how deep she reached into crypto culture.

She got famous for throwing tantrums, and two years later the whole world still shows up to watch her do it.
