dogwifhat ($WIF) Thesis

In November 2018 a couple in Korea knitted a pink hat for their Shiba Inu, Achi, out of yarn they had meant to donate, and took his picture.

Five years later that photo became the mascot of a Solana memecoin whose entire pitch was a dog wearing a hat, with an ATH of over $4B.

What makes it more than a lucky chart is how the community acted once it got rich. GCR paid $4.3M for the original photo, and the money went to Achi's owners. Holders then raised almost $700K, mostly in $1 to $10 donations, to put the dog on the Las Vegas Sphere.

The Sphere would not run ads for coins like $WIF, so the plan died, but the funds stayed in a public multisig and were refunded. The official account just replied "hat stays on."

Two years later "wif" is still how the trenches name things. Toly Wif Hat, Ghost wif hat, a new hat on someone every week, and every one of them points back to Achi.

Most memecoins borrow a meme. $WIF gave the trenches a hat that never comes off.
